The Koobs Nature Area, dedicated to former La Sierra High School science teacher Earl J. Koobs, is a 4.7 acre nature preserve in the heart of Carmichael.  The Kiwanis Club of Carmichael took over the maintenance and running of the Koobs Nature Area around 2016 and made it our signature project to open the nature area to the public as well as make it available for outdoor education for local school.  For the past few years, we have been offering free science and art activity tables for children on our monthly public open days.

Along with the public open days at the Koobs Nature Area, the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael hosts two ceremonies during the year for Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.  Koobs is home the a Vietnam memorial dedicated to the young men from La Sierra High School that lost their lives fighting for our country.
